Sinomenine hydrochloride

[Chinese name] : sinomenine hydrochloride
[character] : acicular crystal (crystallized from benzene). The melting point is 161℃. After melting, the melting point rises to 182℃. Optical rotation -71 (c=2.1, ethanol). Soluble in ethanol, acetone, chloroform and dilute alkali, slightly soluble in water, ether and benzene. Its hydrochloride, crystallization (water or ethanol), 278℃ decomposition. Its hydroiodate, needle crystal (crystallization from water), 272℃ decomposition. Its picric acid salt, yellow needle crystal, 176℃ decomposition.
